Transfer News!!

Oi pessoal, como vai?

We got some good news and some bad news this week. The good news is that I have been transferred to Chambersburg,  Pennsylvania to be a district leader! The bad news is I have to leave Harpers Ferry. Also, we have more quarantine rules. No more church for us. Or district council. Or district activities. But, luckily my new district is just 4 of us and we will all be living in the same house, so those rules don't really apply to us.

Other than transfers, not too much has happened. We met up with the dudes at Panera Bread again, and this time they brought their pastor. They were pretty hard hearted and they wouldn't really listen to all the evidence I showed them. But, they are nice dudes. One of them told me if I ever needed work in computer programming after the mission to reach out to him. Oh, also we had a nice Thanksgiving. We got to play games with our district, and then had a wonderful dinner some members brought.

Spiritual thought: 3 Nephi 18:24 "Therefore, hold up your light that it may shine unto the world. Behold I am the light which ye shall hold up—that which ye have seen me do. Behold ye see that I have prayed unto the Father, and ye all have witnessed."
I invite you all to light the world this Christmas season!

Things I like: Thanksgiving day was 67 degrees and sunny. It was the perfect day, and we got a lot of food.

Things I hate: rainy p-days. They are really boring because we can't do anything

Its evolving, but backwards

Hello everybody,

This week has been an interesting one. It started off with a lot of bad news. First of all, Pam texted us and told us she doesn't want to meet anymore, which was very sad for us. Also, the mission has a bunch more restrictions due to covid again. We can't have in person zone conference anymore, we can only have district council in person once a week, and we can only have district activities once a month.

But, our zoom zone conference was still amazing and I learned a lot about building genuine relationships with people. Other than zone conference, not much has happened. We haven't had any lessons this week, except with members. But, our zoom english class is finally growing so that's exciting!

Spiritual thought: In Ether 6, the Jaredites are traveling in barges for 344 days. It is a really difficult journey. But instead of complaining, they give thanks to God the whole time. We need to always be grateful to God even in the hard times.

Things I like: The weather has been nice enough this week to allow us to go on some good walks.

Things I hate: The mouse has struck from the dead. We pulled out the fridge, because for some reason our crawl space is back there and the landlord sent someone to look at it, and there was a fat pile of mouse crap under the fridge. So fun.

A Soft Seat

Opa, bão??

This week had lots of slow days, but lots of good ones as well. On Thursday, we had a lesson with Pam. We were going to invite her to be baptized, but she beat us to it and told us she wanted to be baptized before we even asked her! We set a date for the 28th, but we are going to have to push that a ways back because she has some trials to overcome. She has Paranoia and was up for 2 days straight so she didn't make it to church. Also, she smokes. But, she really wants to put that all behind her and change. We are super excited to help her do that. Please pray for her to overcome those trials so she can be baptized and start on the path back to Heavenly Father.

The other thing that happened this week is we received a message on Facebook inviting us to meet a group of Christians at Panera bread. We had no idea what it was all about, so we went and met them outside Panera. When we got there, we saw 4 dudes carrying bibles. For a second we thought they were going to start bashing us, but we actually had a really civil conversation about our beliefs. We were able to clear up some confusion because they think we don't believe in the same Jesus. We should be meeting with them again within the next couple of weeks.

Spiritual Thought: Elder Bednar gave a devotional for the missionaries about receiving revelation. He talked about how sometimes we just have to be good, and go, and God will guide us to do what is right.

Things I like: we bought a couch chair off Facebook Marketplace (for super cheap...don't have anything soft to sit on in the apartment)! The guy lived just around the corner, so Elder Dixon Carried it home haha.

Things I hate: I struggle to put stuff in this section. I can't think of anything bad that happened

 Hello everybody!!

I hope you are all doing awesome. This week was a good one for us. We were able to do some service, and find a couple new people to teach! We have still been painting that basement, it's huge, but we also have been able to go out to the community gardens and help prepare for winter. Luckily, the weather has been super nice this week. It was good to get outside and chuck some dirt around.

Anyway, some other exciting things happened this week. We called our friend Debra, and found out she had read all of 1 Nephi! She was super excited about the Book of Mormon and it was a pleasant surprise for us. Another amazing miracle this week is we met Pam. Pam had seen a church ad about how we can hear God's voice through modern prophets, and she gave the church her contact info. We called and setup an in-person lesson at the church. The lesson went super well! The spirit was so strong, and she said she felt the spirit telling her it was all true. She was so excited, she wanted to meet with us the next day(which is today, pday). We rescheduled for Tuesday, so we are excited to see where that goes.

Spiritual thought: I just want to bear my testimony about fasting and prayer. This past week, I have fasted and prayed so much to find new people to teach. I know God has answered my prayers because he led Pam to us, as well as another man named Jonathan who messaged me on Facebook. I know that as we faithfully fast and pray, God will bless us.

Things I like: Quick funny story, we went to shoot hoops at the park during our walk time, so we were in proselyting clothes. There was a 8-10 year old boy on the court and as we approached, he said "for a second I thought you were the Jonas Brothers" It was so funny.

Things I hate: to paint that basement, we only have small hand rollers. It takes forever. But, at least it keeps the job going longer so we always have service haha.

My least favorite holiday

E aí bão?

This week was pretty fun, other than the fact that almost all of our appointments fell through. But that's ok, don't worry about it. We were able to go do service painting again, and we got to do service as a district at the community gardens! It was nice to do something different than painting.

Another super cool thing that happened this week is we got to go to a little party at a members house to share a message, because their nonmember friends were there. They weren't very interested in learning more, but it was good to get out and socialize with people. Other than that, Saturday night we celebrated Halloween by keeping my family tradition of eating tortilla soup for dinner. Also, we carved pumpkins for a video that should be coming out this week.

Spiritual thought: Elder Uchtdorf gave a devotional to the Ysa of the area, and it was really good, he shared what he called the "quick start guide for mortal life" I'll include a little picture from it below.

Things I like: A member brought us a bunch of chili, so we made chili mac dogs.

Things I hate: Halloween. Just kidding, it's not that bad. It was pretty fun this year. (but it's still a pointless holiday)
